Living in a football crossed with minigolf obsessed household, my son was particularly happy to see one of England and Manchester United’s players enjoying a spot of minigolf at Paradise Island Adventure Golf in Manchester.
Luke Shaw enjoyed a fun game of minigolf with his mates on Monday less than 24 hours after his first taste of facing boyhood club Chelsea as a Manchester United player.
The England international produced a solid performance against the Blues and the 19-year-old showed plenty of adventure (get it – adventure!) to pour forward from his left-back position.
It is not just some professional footballers that play minigolf, the combination of football and golf is becoming ever present at courses across the UK in the form of FootGolf.
Our family are finally going to embark on a game of FootGolf this weekend at our nearby Stonham Barns Golf Centre to indulge in their half-term offer.
Stonham Barns was the first FootGolf course in Suffolk and opened in August 2013. FootGolf is a combination of the popular sports of football and golf. The game is played with a regulation #5 football on shortened holes with 21 inch diameter cups. The rules largely correspond to the rules of golf. FootGolf as a game is played throughout the world in many different forms, but as a sport it is regulated by the Federation for International FootGolf (FIFG).
