Our Crazy Golf highlights of 2014

Hallam Union Get Active Week Mini Golf

This is a review of our crazy golf year in 2014.

January – This was first of several well being activities in Universities – we all need a lesson in living a healthy lifestyle especially after Christmas indulgence!  Sheffield Hallam University hired our 9 hole crazy golf course for a well being event in their grounds.

February – We worked with Denny’s Uniforms in February who were looking for a 12 tile course which would give 3-4 good sized holes, for use in exhibitions overseas in Shanghai. It was fun to work alongside the company that supplied my chef whites at catering college.  Denny’s have recently been awarded the Royal Warrant to supply the Royal Household.

March – Middlesbrough Council topped up their parks and open spaces with another of our portable crazy golf courses for Stewart Park.  Middlesbrough Council provide their community with activities in the season to help their local residents and families get active.

April – Event company Tanner and Co restaurant, bar and warehouse and offer some fantastic food, drink and entertainment at a host of planned Summer parties in their courtyard.

Their 4th of July party used our iconic Thin Tim and Big Bertha face in the hole photo board.  Tanner and Co purchased one for use at their own hosted parties!

May – This month saw us work alongside GGI Office Furniture who had recently opened their London office in Northburgh Street.  As part of Clerkenwell Design Week the team opted for a furniture inspired crazy golf course using the course around their stylish office furniture. Teaming up with Chieftain Fabrics to create this cool video of crazy golf and ice cream at the showroom:

June – New Wimbledon Theatre contacted us for a one hole Challenge Putt for an outdoor event on Wimbledon Common.  Combined with a couple of deckchairs and some sand as a tribute to the seaside and overlooked the beautiful lake, attracting an impressive 30,000 visitors on what was described by the events manager as a beautiful day.
July – Eastend Homes used our crazy golf course for their family fun day at the Mile End housing area offices.  The course was set up on the green outside the community facilities and used by families of all ages. Project Manager, Zoe Woodward commented with this:  “The 9 hole course was set up on on of our greens and it was very popular especially among the older children. Thanks for your prompt action with my order at short notice and the timely drop off and pick up of the equipment.”
August – Lots of summer activities on our bookings calendar with our first stop at Decathlon Bolton.  A Family Fun Day in the store at Decathlon Bolton gave customers the opportunity to try out 12 different sports for free, including kayaking on a outdoor pop up pool, climbing, archery, beach volleyball and of course mini golf!  Here’s what the store manager had to say about the event:

It was a great weekend and the golf course was a great addition and worked really well. We will definitely consider using Putterfingers again!

We also had several dates at our local shopping centre the arc which saw a whole month of activities called Awesome August. We had some beautiful sunny days and some not so – a couple of days of rain didn’t stop the crazy golfers in the town.

September – The University of Bedford purchased one of our Leisure Course with a National Lottery Grant for use in the sports facilities at the university for their initiative Get Into Sport.  This is a free 6 week programme for students to get involved in sport during evenings and weekends at their three campuses.
October – We also worked alongside a local science manufacturer who produce data readers and scanners. Our mini golf holes can be branded and we produced a scannable mini golf hole for their exhibition in Germany.  Here is our blog about Ziath which includes more details of their putt and scan mini golf hole, which enabled the visitors to indulge in a fun hole in one with some sweet surprises as a reward for their success.

November – Another exhibition hire came from Thames Water Commercial used two large holes for their exhibition stand at EMEX London and were looking for something innovative to put on their stand to engage. Their 5m x 5m stand was filled with the two challenging holes and the delegates were able to engage direct with the Thames Water Commercial team.
Laura Hall said: “The course went down really well with visitors and generated a lot of leads from people spending time on our stand.  Lots of passers by also commented on how quirky it was and the sales team just enjoyed having something to talk about to prospective customers!”
December – We saw a couple of Christmas parties this month and much fun was had my all those concerned.  We have been working on our new logo and refined our course sizes to make a clearer definition on our course sizes – whether hire or purchase much easier.  What do you think?
