When EPIC Dad purchased a pop-up mini golf course, it wasn’t simply to add another activity to their events calendar, it was about creating meaningful moments between fathers and their children.
About EPIC Dad
“EPIC Dad is a charity dedicated to supporting dads, father figures, and families through one-to-one mentoring, fatherhood workshops, dads and children’s clubs, and family events. Our mission is to help dads be present, positive, and engaged, while creating opportunities for families to connect, grow, and thrive together.”

With activities across West Suffolk and beyond, EPIC Dad has built a reputation for creating welcoming, inclusive spaces where fathers feel supported and families can strengthen their relationships.
Why Mini Golf?
For EPIC Dad, accessibility was key. The activity needed to suit both children and adults, be easy to understand and fit into a range of settings, from school halls to outdoor community days. The goal was to find something inclusive and low-barrier that could work across different settings, and we’re delighted that mini golf helped to achieve that.
“We wanted something fun, accessible and family friendly that could instantly bring people together. Mini golf ticked all the boxes.”
A Positive Response from the Community
Since purchasing the course, EPIC Dad has used the pop-up mini golf course at family fun days, school partnerships and community outreach sessions, including work linked to Active Lakenheath.
The course has proved reliable and consistently popular. It gives families something to engage with together, rather than simply attending an event.
“Children love the challenge of the holes and dads enjoy playing alongside their kids. It’s been a real icebreaker.”
One example they shared stood out. At a community event, a father who would normally stay on the sidelines chose to join in and played several rounds with his children.
“Afterwards he told us it was the first time he’d felt truly relaxed at a community event.”
EPIC Dad felt this kind of feedback showed the course isn’t just a game – it’s a tool for connection.
Built for portability
Alongside engagement, the practical side mattered. The pop-up mini golf course needed to be portable, quick to assemble and manageable with a small team.
“It packs down neatly, is lightweight enough to transport between venues and can be set up quickly by just a couple of people.”
That flexibility allows EPIC Dad to use the course in schools, community halls and outdoor spaces without additional logistical pressure. It has since become one of their regular event resources.

A Useful Addition for Community Organisations
For EPIC Dad, the value of portable mini golf lies in its simplicity. It appeals to different age groups, works in varied settings and gives families a reason to engage with each other during events.
For community organisations looking for a practical, reusable activity that encourages participation without complexity, portable pop-up mini golf course can be a sensible addition.
