Rory McIlroy plays crazy golf from the helipad of the Burj Al Arab

Golf does not get any more scenic than this with US Open Champion Rory McIlroy teeing off from the 4th tallest hotel in the World, some of the photos from this Daily Mail article have got my stomach doing the loop-the-loop!  You would have to have some strength to stand that high and swing the golf club.

I wonder how long it took to lay the astro turf………….not as quick as it would to lay a Putterfingers golf course!

The Burj Al Arab also just happened to be the project of my 7 year old son in the last few weeks before breaking up from school for the Christmas break.  His main interest was not the helipad or golf but more that the World’s only 7 star hotel stands 321 metres high and boasts a Royal Suite costing £11,345 per night!

Rory McIlroy who is the global ambassador for the Jumeirah hotel chain, looked at ease as he shot golf balls off the helipad into the coastline.  But is that exactly where the golf balls land?

The helipad has also been used as a make shift tennis court in 2005 for both Roger Federer and Andre Agassi.

As I am afraid of heights I would leave this to those sportsmen who are obviously great ambassadors for the sports they excel in and of course those that have enough money to land their helicopter on the helipad!

But what a beautiful hotel, rooms with rain showers and a jacuzzi in every suite, a reception on every floor, butlers available round the clock and dining under the sea and stars at the base of the World’s tallest atrium or surrounded by a huge aquarium watching tropical fish as you dine.

If I had a chance to visit, this would definitely be on my list of things to do before I die.
