I suppose you would have to have been asleep to have missed the crazy golf clown comments from two high-profile players that threatened to overshadow the Open First Round at Muirfield.
Ian Poulter and Phil Mickleson after their rounds of 72 and 69, respectively complained about the Open Course according to the Daily Mail.
Poulter suggested Muirfield was playing like a crazy golf course, as the Englishman noted that the 18th hole needed a “windmill and a clown face”. Mickelson also went on the attack, saying he hoped that the organisers would “let go of their ego” after he criticised the pin positions.
In a rage on Twitter “all the 18th hole needs is a clown and a windmill” said Ian Poulter.
