Mini Golf Putting Challenge – a new way to network?

I used this opportunity to catch up over a coffee with a client of ours, who has used our portable Mini Golf course in her networking business.   Lynette Bucknall oversees a franchised group of successful networking events over East Anglia called Office Drinks.  Lynette also runs, Virtual Head Office Ltd, a pay as you go head office for small businesses.

Office Drinks offers a unique style of networking for small businesses to have a drink after work and meet like minded business people with the opportunity to develop new business relationships.  The fun format is relaxed and informal, allows each guest to meet everyone in the room and is complemented by bar snacks and even a pub quiz!  A highly recommended evening of structured networking and great fun.

What were your first impressions of Putterfingers Crazy Golf and their approach to customer service? Right from the beginning my experience with Putterfingers Crazy Golf was great. The team are approachable, friendly, enthusiastic and have a strong product knowledge. They guided me through the process of booking a course for my event very easily.

Did you find the portable mini golf course had much of an impact at your event? Yes. I booked the course to use at a networking event in a bar – not the usual sort of place you would expect to see a mini golf course, after the initial amazement from the guests at seeing it there, there was a real excitement in the room about having a go, both from the serious golfers and for those who saw it as a bit of a laugh. Everyone gathered around to watch, I noticed a number of guests taking photographs and videos on their phone – something I have never witnessed at a networking event before.

Did you find the mini golf easy to set-up? Yes, very easy. One hole was set up in just a couple of minutes! It was also very lightweight and looked very profressional.

Was the course playable and appropriate for your audience? Extremely. I think the nice thing about this was that it was accessible for everyone.  In the end the one hole challenge was won by a couple of regular golfers, but everyone wanted to take part as the fun side of it was also obvious. It was a great success.

Were you able to gain any feedback from the guests at your event? A number of people told me on the night, and subsequently how much they enjoyed the course, in fact, over a year later people still remember and mention it to me. I believe at least one person there that night has booked a course subsequently.

Would you consider using the mini golf course at future events? Definitely.

If you could summarise Putterfingers Mini Golf Courses in 3 words, how would you describe them? Easy, fun, unique.

Well, a big thanks for the input Lynette and an opportunity to drink coffee and eat delicious chocolate cake!  We really hope to assist at more Office Drinks networking events across the region, in the future.
