For those crazy golfers amongst us, what better way to celebrate being British with the Big Rooftop Tea and Crazy Golf event at Selfridges on Oxford Street, London this Summer.
Last night I purchased the tickets for the 4 of us to visit in half-term week and when I mentioned to my 7 year old that the obstacles were made from cake, her immediate response was ” Can I eat the obstacles after I have putted through them?!”
The Selfridges promotional literature does state that the licking of obstacles is not allowed!
“The course has been designed to look like a giant display of cakes, one for each hole, representing famous London landmarks. Participants will be challenged to conquer Buckingham Palace (hole #7), St. Paul’s Cathedral (hole #4) and Tower Bridge (hole #6), all clad in fondant and piped icing and to cross cake-stand bunkers and sugary waterfalls, while successful shots will be rewarded with visual treats.”
The 9 hole caked based crazy golf course has been designed by food architects Bompas and Parr, reknowned for their floating boat lake and bar on the rooftop of Selfridges last year.
This installation revisits Selfridges’ first introduction of mini golf on its roof back in the 1930s and the adjoining tea shop makes it the perfect companion to enjoy a spot of afternoon tea – we certainly shall be!
