Well this blog is about one of our newest clients, who recently purchased a portable Leisure Golf Course for use in a busy Leisure Centre.
Sue Powell at Maurice Chandler Leisure Centre has a very dedicated team running activities for a wide range of abilities and ages throughout the week.
The Leisure Centre offers a wide range of sports, from mini golf, football, badminton, bowls, table tennis, cricket, hockey and roller skating. Certainly something for everyone to participate in!
The Leisure Centre is a registered charity and run by a volunteer management committee. Funds are raised from facility and exhibition hire, car boot sales and grants. The team were able to purchase the golf course following a grant from Shropshire Council Short Breaks Participation Fund, created for children or young people with a disability or an additional need. The aim of the Participation Fund is to help remove barriers by offering funds that will enable a child or young person access an activity. It is with grants and great support from the fund, that they were able to provide the disabled club with equipment and a Golf Course from Putterfingers.
The course flexibility suited Sue’s needs as an activity that could be easily packed away and stored in between the group sessions. Plus, like a big jigsaw puzzle it is great fun to set up!
The crazy golf / mini golf course has been used for a Disabled Multi-Sports & Play Club for children aged between 8-14 years. Some children have difficulty mastering simple physical skills such as balancing, catching, running and kicking. These Multi Sports sessions offer the opportunity for practicing these skills in a safe secure environment with friendly staff.
Sue commented ‘that the kids are thoroughly enjoying the challenge of the golf course and developing some new skills and they look forward to playing every week’.
Sue’s kind comments to use were that ‘she was very pleased with the service offered by Putterfingers and the help given by the team in purchasing the course and golf accessories’.
