Need to finish the hole in style or maybe just working your way through a Mini Golf Course, or practising your putting on a Portable Putting Green , here are some tips to keep your putting strokes to a minimum:
1. Line it up
A good tip is to line up the marking on your ball with the line you have chosen. Consider the angles by walking around the putt to assess any slopes and angles. Take position behind the ball and carefully choose your aiming spot.
2. Stand up to it
For putting have your body as close to the ball than you would for other shots. It is important to get your head right over the ball, as if the ball has been dropped from the spot between your eyes. By standing slightly knock-kneed – this will help keep you stable.
3. The need for speed
Concentrate on how hard you are going to hit the ball. If your stance and marking are correct the rest should look after themselves. Don’t tap the ball – instead, visualise how hard you are going to hit it and how far you want to follow through. That will ensure you get the right amount of power.
Be confident with your putting!
One of the keys to successful putting is not changing your mind halfway through.
– take the time to get your line right, perfect your stance and work out the strength of the shot.
– have confidence in your decision and stay true to your reading of the putt.
– once you have made up your mind, don’t spend too long over your putt – this will invite doubt.
